For us as officials, our game starts well before the first whistle ever blows. To get our best performance on the court, we have to spend time with the rest of our crew making sure we are focused as a team on the task ahead of us. That means putting aside whatever happened that day at work, at home, or anything else that may draw our attention.
We must spend time getting our minds set on the game of basketball. That includes reviewing fundamental concepts and coverage as well procedural issues so that we are efficient and acting together as one coherent team when that first whistle blows.
